Disability Rights Services & Medicaid Targeted for HUGE Cuts!

Critical Kansas disability services are under attack in Washington, D.C.!  Please click the “TAKE ACTION” button to protect BOTH Medicaid and Protection & Advocacy (P&A) programs!

SAVE MEDICAID – The proposed cuts would kick upwards of 15 million people off of the lifesaving health and long-term care services provided by Medicaid. Losing Medicaid would cause irreparable harm to people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant mothers, newborns, and the safety nets that serve them (like hospitals – especially rural hospitals, nursing homes, etc.).

SAVE Disability Rights – 62% Cut to P&A Disability Rights Services – The President's proposed budget seriously threatens disability rights programs for seniors and people with disabilities nationwide. Proposed cuts include upwards of a 62% cut to Protection & Advocacy (P&A) agencies, like the Disability Rights Center (DRC) of Kansas. When these P&A cuts are combined with the Medicaid cuts in Congress, the results will cause enormous harm to seniors and individuals with disabilities across the country.

P&As (like DRC Kansas) are the frontline defense against abuse, neglect, and exploitation perpetrated against seniors and people with disabilities. P&As provide the free legal and advocacy services that seniors and people with disabilities need to protect their human, civil, and disability rights.

The proposed 62% cuts to P&As like DRC Kansas would be devastating. P&As provide supports that help people with disabilities and seniors live in their communities with dignity and independence. The P&A programs help people with disabilities and seniors cut through red tape and navigate the complex bureaucracies of disability services. P&As are essential lifelines that fight to end abuse, neglect, and exploitation, provide free legal and advocacy services to protect seniors and individuals with disabilities, reduce the need for more costly institutionalization, eliminate fraud and waste, and strengthen families and communities in Kansas and across America.

The combination of these cuts to Medicaid and P&As, like DRC Kansas, is a direct and deliberate attack on people with disabilities, seniors, their families, and the systems that protect their rights, health, and independence.

SAVE Medicaid and SAVE the P&As.

Click the “TAKE ACTION” button below to email YOUR members of Congress and tell them to SAVE both Medicaid and the P&A programs (like DRC Kansas).

"Taking Action" is super simple. It takes less than 30 seconds to click the button, put in your info, and the system will automatically send emails to all 3 of your members of Congress (your U.S. House member and both Kansas U.S. Senators) to ask them to protect both Medicaid and P&A programs (like DRC Kansas)!

Note: after the Kansas Reflector published its story, new details about the President’s proposed budget were released. The new details show P&As, like DRC Kansas, having a total reduction of upwards of 62% in federal funding. When the article was first written, the best information publicly available showed the total P&A cuts ranged from 68% to 87% (because the cuts were based on a leaked HHS budget at the time, whereas the official President’s budget details have since been released).
