DRC will continue to be available by telephone & internet due to COVID-19 until “Phase 3” is achieved (until at least June 1)

In response to COVID-19, the Disability Rights Center of Kansas staff will continue to be available by telephone and internet (email, online intake, etc.) by teleworking remotely.  DRC will continue to telework until Kansas reaches “Phase 3” of the Governor’s “Ad Astra: Plan to Reopen Kansas.”  See the weblink below for the Governor’s full plan.  Kansas will not achieve Phase 3 until two things happen:  #1 – We reach the date of June 1, 2020, AND #2 – Kansas meets key milestones proving the virus is in decline.  When Kansas reaches Phase 3, DRC will make another determination regarding telework.  As has been the case all along, having DRC staff telework WILL NOT DISRUPT SERVICES TO OUR CLIENTS.  If you are a Kansan with a disability in need of legally-based advocacy services, please continue to contact us for services.  We are still open and available to help you.  Call our toll-free number at 1-877-776-1541, email us at info@drckansas.org, or fill out our online intake form.

Senior citizens and people with disabilities are disproportionately at a higher risk regarding COVID-19 related illnesses.  Given that seniors and people with disabilities are precisely who DRC serves, we believe the safest and most prudent course of action is to have DRC staff continue to telework at this time. Here is the Governor’s full “Ad Astra: Plan to Reopen Kansas.”  This talks about Phase 3 and the different Phases for opening Kansas: https://covid.ks.gov/ad-astra-a-plan-to-reopen-kansas/
