Update: DRC Staff Working Remotely Until at Least April 19

Due to the concerns surrounding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the Disability Rights Center of Kansas will continue to protect our community and the people that we serve through social distancing by having our employees work remotely from home until at least April 19, 2020, pursuant to the Governor's statewide, stay-home order. We will reevaluate closer to this date, and provide a further update. This will not disrupt services to our clients.  Almost all of our client interactions are currently by phone or the internet.  Although our front doors will technically be closed, our clients and the people of Kansas will still be able to access DRC as they always have.

During this unprecedented situation, our priority remains the same: to protect and advocate for the civil and legal rights of Kansas with disabilities through our legally-based disability rights advocacy services. Our employees are fully prepared to make this transition to work remotely in order to ensure that Kansans with disabilities are not impacted by this change.

The way Kansans with disabilities access our services does not change.  If you are a Kansan with a disability in need of legal advocacy services, please:

We encourage you to follow the recommendations provided by local and national officials and to stay updated as this situation progresses through the official websites of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). If you have questions about COVID-19, you can call KDHE’s hotline from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at (866) 534 – 3463 or email COVID-19@ks.gov.

We thank Kansans for your understanding and patience as we confront this situation and the challenges that it brings. We urge all Kansans to prioritize the safety and health of those most susceptible to COVID-19, and our entire community, by joining us in social distancing and all other recommended precautionary measures to mitigate the effects of this pandemic. We will continue to keep you informed through our social media channels and our website.
