You can’t vote if you’re not registered. If you are 
unsure of your registration status contact your home 
county election office.
People with disabilities are upwards of 20% less likely 
to vote than people without disabilities.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS UNDER VOTING LAWS
All polling places must be accessible to voters with disabilities on the day of an election • 
either by permanent or temporary means. This right in state law was granted when Governor 
Kathleen Sebelius signed SB 166 into law (KSA 25-2710). 
Voters with disabilities may use whatever method they normally use to sign their name • 
and obtain assistance in completing a ballot from the person of their choice.
Voters with disabilities may choose to use “curb side” voting to accommodate a • 
disability. However, poll workers can not require anyone to vote at the curbside. 
Registered voters with disabilities may choose to vote at their polling place (which • 
must be accessible) or may choose to vote in the PRIVACY OF THEIR OWN HOME 
by Permanent Advance Ballot. It’s your choice! You can register to vote and apply for 
Permanent Advance Ballot at the same time. 
Discrimination is Prohibited
Federal Law prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in the voting process. Regardless of 
whether you vote at a polling place, or by advance ballot, you have the right to access your polling place.

If a Kansan with a disability experiences a violation of their legal right to vote, please contact the Disability 
Rights Center of Kansas (DRC) at 1-877-776-1541 (voice), 1-877-335-3725 (TDD). DRC provides 
legal advocacy for disability rights. A Kansan with a disability can also call DRC if they believe their 
rights as a person with a disability under federal or state law have been violated.
